Jerry Jones, Jr., a key member of the Dallas Cowboys front office since 1996, is the guiding force behind the Dallas Desperados. As President and General Manager, Jones oversees all aspects of the club's daily operation, while also serving as the owner's representative in all League related matters.
Jones' responsibilities as the Cowboys Vice Chief Sales & Marketing Officer/Vice President/General Counsel enables him to bring a wide range of professional football experience to the AFL.
His duties with the Cowboys include coordinating all Internet operations for the NFL's top ranked team website (www.dallascowboys.com), negotiation of rookie player contracts, designing and implementing marketing strategies and overseeing all legal operations.
Jones gained valuable experience in start-up operations when he assumed responsibility for developing the Cowboys website. After starting from scratch in August of 1996, www.dallascowboys.com has become one of the NFL's most comprehensive and innovative team pages and has annually received the most unique visitor hits. As recently as September of 2001, the Cowboys site outdistanced the remaining team sites in the NFL with 433,000 unique visitors for the month.
His experience in contract negotiations includes involvement in all Dallas Cowboys broadcast rights agreements for local radio and television content, as well as handling contract negotiations for nearly every Cowboys' draft choice since 1997.
Jones, born Sept. 27, 1969, joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1996 after earning his law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1995. As an undergraduate at Georgetown University, he majored in political science and graduated with a BA in 1992. |
