As a project controls engineer with Bechtel Telecommunications, I�ve helped improve the process of tracking change orders, work orders, and work authorizations for Cingular�s northeast U.S. region. As a field engineer on the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) project at Hanford, Washington, I worked on constructability issues, pressure testing pipe, material receipt inspection, quantity tracking, and creating and maintaining work packages.
The biggest challenge at the telecoms project is managing complexity; there are many things we have to track for each cellular site that is built.
Although I have been on only two projects so far at Bechtel, I�ve already had the opportunity to work in multiple groups, such field engineering and project controls. These opportunities have been invaluable in expanding my knowledge of construction.
