VINEYARD MANAGERJesus Romero met Francis Mahoney through his boss, David Heil, a viticulturist at Domaine Chandon who was interested in Mahoney�s clonal research. Heil formed his own vineyard management company, hired Jesus and Mahoney became a client. That was in 1983. Jesus found a home and is still hard at work managing 160 acres of vines at Mahoney Vineyards. Jesus and I are truly partners in every aspect of our farming operation, Francis says. Romero and his wife, Patricia, are considered family. Mahoney boasts that their three sons are all MVP soccer players and honor students. Jesus, Jr. has a degree from U.C. Berkeley in biology and works for Crop Care. Nestor is a junior at U.C. Davis, majoring in international business and currently studying French in Paris, and Christian is an honor student at Vintage High, he says proudly. |
