Jim Stanley is president of Duke Energy Indiana. He leads the Indiana utility business, Indiana�s largest electric supplier, providing electric service to more than 770,000 customers in 69 of Indiana�s 92 counties.
Most recently, Stanley served as vice president of field operations Midwest for Duke Energy. He was responsible for transmission and distribution and maintenance, substation construction and maintenance, premise services, customer service engineering, and electric outage response for the Duke Energy Midwest service area.
A 30-year career with PSI Energy, Cinergy and Duke Energy includes assignments in a variety of departments from accounting to human resources to field management. Stanley joined PSI Energy in June 1977. He began his field operations career in roles of district and regional manager. He has also served as general manager of employee and union relations, general manager of transmission and distribution projects, and vice president of transmission and distribution construction and maintenance. He was named to his current position in November 2006.
Stanley is active in the community and currently serves on the boards of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Central Indiana, YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, and the Indiana Legal Foundation. He is also a board member of the Indiana Manufacturers Association and the Indiana Energy Association.
Stanley is a past chairman and current board member of Special Olympics Indiana. He is a past member of the board of directors of Reliant Services Corp., Greater Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley, March of Dimes Wabash Valley Division, Lawrence County United Way, and Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation. He also served on the Executive Committee of Wabash Valley Alliance for Growth and Progress. He is a past member of the Lawrence County Who�s Who, past board president of the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, and past president and treasurer of the Lawrence County United Way Board and the Lawrence County Community Foundation Steering Committee.
The Dyersburg, Tenn., native earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting, with a minor in economics, from Ball State University.
Stanley was born in 1955. He and his wife, Janet, have a daughter and two sons.
