Jim Barnes is owner and CEO of Wellington-Royce. His commitment for the company is to provide both the finest complete software system that will fully support the operations of a General Aviation company and to provide the most effective and reliable customer support for the customers. He oversees the growth and development of the company and its software, The BASE System (for Business Aviation Software Engine). Jim has over 24 years of experience in corporate management, marketing, and as a business owner in the computer software industry. As a business and marketing consultant, Jim provided a range of services that included developing marketing strategies for IBM over a period of 6 years for a number of their hardware and software products. For over 20 years, Jim and his wife, Gloria, have provided executive management and marketing for their software and support company they began in 1982. In the late 1980s, the name of the company was changed to Wellington-Royce Corporation. As CEO of Wellington-Royce, Jim and the other principals of the company made the decision to take advantage of a software opportunity in the aviation industry. On January 1, 2000, Wellington-Royce acquired a General Aviation software system, its national customer base, and the customer support operations. Now known as The BASE System, this software system was specifically designed for the FBO and General Aviation industry. The company's headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia. In the several years since the acquisition, Jim has built the company, doubling its staff, by adding even more customer support and technical support personnel. During this same time, he has guided the company through redesigning and rewriting the software to now provide much more ease-of-use and better business processing. The company has added many more custom features to the software to improve the business results of their customers. WRC provides ongoing 800# customer support, technical support and installation, training both onsite at a customer's location and at their Atlanta headquarters, and custom programming for the customers of the Wellington-Royce BASE System. Jim's objective is for the company to continue to add even more customer support services and expand the software features of the BASE System so that it continues to be the premier software system for the General Aviation industry.
