Jim Geikie joined Burt's Bees in 2006 after 18 years in various sales and marketing roles at Unilever Home & Personal Care. Most recently, he served as Director of Marketing for hair care there. Jim's current role is to implement various programs in business planning, product education, category management and operations to help make Burt's Bees the Natural Personal Care partner of choice for leading retailers.
A long admirer of Ben & Jerry's for their culture of conscientious capitalism well before it was in vogue, Jim had always wanted to work for a company with environmental and social consciousness at the core of its values. Then we came along and Jim got the golden opportunity to combine his love for working in the personal care and beauty categories with his desire to make a difference in a place with a tremendous sense of community and shared purpose.
To Jim, working at Burt's Bees is similar to making great music. He says, "Our clear mission, strategy, values and behaviors provide a consistent base rhythm that everyone follows. There is a lot of listening and honest communication. And we respect individuality and talent."
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of New Hampshire. When he's not trying to grow the Natural Personal Care category in health food stores and mainstream grocery and mass retail chains, Jim keeps busy - and in shape - pulling chains on his bike. He's become an avid cyclist, riding to work up to 12 days every month depending on weather, daylight and his schedule, with the goal of replacing at least 2,000 miles of car commuting with pedal-power over the course of the year. |
