Jim has farmed in the Redfield area his entire life. He was raised on his great-great-great grandfather's homestead along the James River. He is a 1979 graduate of Redfield High School and a 1981 graduate of Watertown Vocational Institute. He farmed and worked at the local Case I-H dealership until his farming became too consuming. Jim farms 6000 acres of crop and pasture land, runs 250 head of cow/calf pairs and 250 head of heifers that are bred and either sold or calved every spring. He backgrounds calves along with some custom planting and harvesting. He grows and sells hay and plants and sells a variety of seed wheat. He is a member of the South Dakota Crop Improvement Association. Jim and his wife, Pam, still live near the original homestead with their two sons, Collin and Logan. |
