Jim Melvin is the vice president of marketing and security solutions at RSA, The Security Division of EMC, the leader in information-centric security that provides solutions to protect information throughout its lifecycle. In this role, he is responsible for corporate, field, solutions, channel, and partner marketing; corporate and marketing communications; interactive and web programs; press and industry analyst relations; and RSA Conference events worldwide.
Mr. Melvin assumed this role following EMC Corporation's acquisition of RSA Security and Network Intelligence in September 2006. Most recently, Mr. Melvin served as executive vice president of marketing and business development at Network Intelligence, a leader in transforming enterprise-wide data into automated compliance and security information. Prior to this, Mr. Melvin served as chief executive officer at Mazu Networks, a provider of network-wide intrusion prevention systems. Mr. Melvin was also vice president of marketing at SightPath, a developer of appliances for creating intelligent content delivery networks. While there, he played a key role in the acquisition of SightPath by Cisco in 2000, and later served as the director of marketing for Cisco's content networking business unit.
Mr. Melvin has been awarded three U.S. patents in fault tolerant systems design. He holds a B.S. in computer engineering and an M.S. in management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. |
