Jim has enjoyed a 30-year career in Spa and Hospitality management across Europe, Asia, Mexico and the United States. He has been acknowledged for his employee team building, crafting unique and life-changing experiences for Spa guests and his organizational vision.
As General Manager of Spa Operations at Sea Island Resorts, Root recently directed the opening of the new Spa at Sea Island, a portion of the $500 million renaissance to the property, including the rebuilding of The Cloister hotel. The Spa at Sea Island is a 65,000-square-foot spa and fitness facility dedicated as a resource for health, fitness and well-being. He also oversees the Sea Island Beach Club, Sea Island Stables, Shooting School, Naturalist Programs, Yacht Club and Tennis Club.
Jim serves as chairman of the International Spa Association, the leading worldwide professional organization of the Spa Industry. He received a B.S. from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, class of 1977, and is a long-standing member of the Cornell Hotel Society. |
