Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada of Minokamo, Japan, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association�s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Yamada is director of a hospital and a doctor of neurosurgery.
A member of the Minokamo Lions Club since 1983, Director Yamada has held many offices within the association, including club chairperson, honorary district advisor, administrative committee member and district governor. He participated in a tree planting for preventing the Great Wall of China from weathering and in commemorating the 10th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including the International President�s Award and International President�s Certificate of Appreciation. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Yamada is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a member of the International Exchange Association of Gifu Province; advisor to the Gifu Prefecture, especially in the areas of social welfare and medicine; chairperson of the Doctor�s Association in Kamo Region; and director of the Japan Hospital Association. He was formerly an advisor to the governor of the Gifu Prefecture.
Director Yamada and his wife, Toshiko, have two children and two grandchildren. |
