Joan focuses her practice on intellectual property matters, including preparing and prosecuting patents and handling trademark, licensing, patent infringement and validity matters. Joan has an extensive background in preparing and prosecuting patents related to the chemical, mechanical, semiconductor and biotechnology arts. In addition, she has experience in dealing with a variety of PCT related concerns. Joan was previously a member of the TopCAT Awards Planning Committee and served as secretary of the board for Camp Fire USA Central Ohio Council. A former member of the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association, Joan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2001. She earned a B.S., with honors, in chemistry from the Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology in 1998. Joan previously was employed with Dinsmore and Shohl (formerly Killworth, Gottman, Hagan, and Schaeff) prior to joining Calfee in 2004. |
