Joan Gariazzo has spent almost 30 years in the Federal government in telecommunications management, including leadership positions within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Ms. Gariazzo spent 18 years with the Federal Aviation Administration, where she served as the FAA Telecommunications Services Manager. Two years prior to her retirement, she led a systems engineering team that resolved issues associated with the future National Airspace System (NAS). During this assignment, she developed a new process for establishing and managing all NAS program baselines, as required by the Acquisition Management System and Congressional edicts. She has also managed several key FAA programs, including the billion dollar Leased Interfacility NAS Communications System (LINCS). She played a major role in the restructuring of the National Airspace Data Interchange Network (NADIN II) contract and chaired the technical and management evaluation team for the FAA Telecommunications Satellite (FAATSAT) program. She also developed the "FAA Future Telecommunications Book", which was a telecommunications plan for future FAA systems.
In addition, Ms. Gariazzo managed the Radio Communications Link contract for the FAA, which was a national microwave network of over 1000 sites. She also managed the Data Multiplexing Networks contract, which created two related national modem systems with over 2000 links.
Before joining the FAA, Ms. Gariazzo worked on the senior staff in operations research and computer systems analysis with the National Institutes of Health.
