As Chief Enterprise Risk Officer, Joanne M. Berkowitz is responsible for enterprise risk management for The PMI Group, including U.S. mortgage insurance operations, international subsidiaries, and strategic investments. In this capacity, Berkowitz also manages PMI�s Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiatives, strategic planning, and internal audit functions.
Berkowitz began her career with PMI in 1983. She held various underwriting and marketing positions both in the field and corporate headquarters before being promoted to Senior Vice President, where she oversaw risk management and underwriting for U.S. mortgage insurance operations. Berkowitz then served as Senior Vice President-Chief Risk Officer of PMI Capital Corporation and was responsible for overseeing international subsidiaries and strategic investments. Berkowitz most recently served as Group Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management.
Berkowitz is a member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of the Bay Area.
Berkowitz holds a B.A. in sociology and psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. |
