Joanne Minieri, CPA, is the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Forest City Ratner Companies. In this capacity, she works closely with Chairman and CEO Bruce C. Ratner in developing and implementing the company's strategic plan, in directing its development projects and in overseeing the company's day-to-day operations.
Ms. Minieri's areas of managerial responsibility encompass cash management, accounting and finance, financial reporting, cost control, forecasting, policy development and strategic opportunity assessment. In addition, Ms. Minieri directs the Executive Management team, which devises the company's long-term strategy and evaluates business development opportunities. Under her management, the company has diversified its portfolio with the development of 11 office buildings and 19 retail centers, along with 626 residential units. She is currently managing a development pipeline that includes over 10 million square feet of office, residential and retail space in such projects as the Ridge Hill mixed-use development in Yonkers, Beekman Tower in Manhattan and Brooklyn's Atlantic Yards project, a 7.7 million-square-foot mixed-use development, which will include a new state-of-the-art sports arena-the Barclays Center-designed by internationally acclaimed architect Frank Gehry.
Ms. Minieri was closely involved in the company's acquisition of a sports franchise, the NBA's Nets. She represents ownership in overseeing the business side of the team and is responsible for managing the company's investment, including the plan to bring the Nets to their new home in the Barclays Center.
Ms. Minieri first joined Forest City Ratner Companies as Chief Financial Officer in 1995. She was promoted to Executive Vice President and COO in 1998, and to her current position as President and COO in 2007. Previously, she worked for Kenneth Leventhal & Company, where she monitored the development of a number of New York City real estate projects. Ms. Minieri's experience in the real estate and financial-services sectors spans a full range of professional accounting, tax and consulting services, which she has provided for both private and public companies.
Ms. Minieri is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, The Real Estate Board of New York, the Urban Land Institute and WX-NY, an association for women in the commercial real estate industry, and is on the board of the Brooklyn Children's Museum. She received a citation from Nassau County Executive 2006 after being honored at the New York Conference and National Housing Conference, 32nd Annual Awards Luncheon. A native of Brooklyn, New York, she holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University.
