Joanne Wheeler is senior associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP in London and a member of the Space Business Group.
Joanne specialises in regulatory matters and commercial contracts in the space, satellite and communications sectors. She represents operators, manufacturers, communications companies and financial institutions in all aspects of domestic, European and international regulation and procedures. She also represents operators, manufacturers financial institutions, governments and international institutions in all types of commercial contracts, including in the negotiation and drafting of procurement contracts.
Prior to joining Milbank, Joanne spent three years at the European Space Agency, in Paris, six months at the UK Office of Communications (Ofcom) and was a senior associate in the communications group and member of the Satellite Practice Group at Allen & Overy in London. She is on the Advisory Board of the University College London satellite project, a member of the International Institute of Space Law, and of the International Law Association International Committee on Space Law and of the British Standards Institute Panel on space debris. Joanne is also the Secretary of the UK branch of the European Centre for Space Law.
Joanne has lectured on space debris at Queen Mary College, University of London. She is a regular speaker at international space and communications conferences, has published several articles in international journals and has contributed chapters for several books on space and satellite topics.
Joanne is admitted to practice law in England and Wales and also in Scotland, where she is a notary public. Joanne holds degrees from the Universities of Aberdeen, Oxford and Rotterdam and a diploma from Queen Mary College, University of London. |
