Jack Marquez is a partner in the firm and a member of the Government and Regulatory Affairs Practice Group. His practice is concentrated in the areas of international and domestic business and finance, communications, entertainment and legislative law.
International and Domestic Business and Finance. Jack has represented U.S. corporations in transactions and business ventures in Latin America as well as Latin American corporations in similar transactions in the United States. He has represented U.S. and foreign business, thrift institutions and other financial entities before U.S. regulatory authorities. Currently, Jack represents commercial banks and thrift institutions, as well as industrial companies, before the various committees of the U.S. Congress and agencies of the U.S. government.
Communications and Entertainment Law. Jack represents a broad range of U.S. and foreign companies engaged in the communications and entertainment industries.
Legislative Law. Jack served as administrative assistant to two members of Congress. As senior attorney-advisor of the Alliance for Progress (U.S. Agency for International Development), and as director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, he was engaged in a significant legislative practice. He has continued this practice through his representation of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, the Puerto Rico Bankers Association, the Puerto Rico Thrift Bankers Association, the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce and other individual clients.
Professional Activities. Jack is a frequent speaker on legislative matters in activities organized by trade and bar associations. He has also been a speaker at activities and seminars organized by European and Latin American trade associations. He has published articles in American Banker and Caribbean Business.
Civic Activities. Jack contributes his time to several Hispanic organizations.
In General. Jack holds an LL.B. from the University of Puerto Rico, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. In addition, Jack is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of French. |
