Jocelyn D. Ram, based in the Washington DC office, has been working in the field of patent law for the past seven years. Upon completing her undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering, she became a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office in the field of surgery and medical technology. In this position, she examined hundreds of patent applications, performed numerous database searches of prior art, and worked together with attorneys and inventors to facilitate allowance of the patent applications.
During law school, Ms. Ram gained courtroom experience as a student prosecutor in Quincy District Court and as a student public defender in Boston Municipal Court (under Rule 3.03). Over the course of a year, she handled multiple criminal cases including larceny, DWI, and possession of narcotics, one of which culminated in a trial..
Ms. Ram joined Kenyon & Kenyon in September 2006. While completing her law degree she worked for two years as a patent agent at Perkins, Smith and Cohen LLP (now Burns & Levinson) in Boston, Massachusetts. Her diverse background of engineering, communications, and law, together with her career experience, provides her with a unique perspective for approaching patent prosecution.
