Jocelyn Shearer is vice president, video licensing and archive management, for National Geographic Digital Motion (NGDM). Bringing more than 10 years of experience, Shearer joined NGDM in October 2005, and reports to its president, Betsy Scolnik. Shearer is responsible for managing the sale of digital footage from both the National Geographic digital archive and from partner footage collections. In this capacity she develops sales strategies, handles marketing and third-party acquisitions, manages the Digital Motion video research group, and influences the priority and preservation of archived Digital Motion video content.



Shearer came to National Geographic from Corbis Motion, where she served as director of film sales & service for its west region. Leading a team of 11, Shearer was responsible for Corbis' advertising, entertainment and corporate accounts, as well as overseeing the overall expansion of its client base for footage in the marketplace.



Prior to Corbis, Shearer served as manager of film sales for Getty Images, responsible for the integration of its Energy Film library and its Energy staff into Image Bank Film sales operations. She was also the photographer liaison for Pictor/Uniphoto, where she was the sole picture researcher for its sales team. Working closely with Pictor/Uniphoto's in-house production staff, she was also responsible for the recruitment of photographers and the editing of photography submissions.



Shearer is a graduate of the University of Toronto. Her interests include scuba diving, nature, wildlife and travel, with a personal quest to add to the list of over 20 countries she has already visited.
