Joel Hackney is president, Enterprise Solutions for Nortel.
In his role, Hackney is responsible for accelerating the strong momentum in Nortel's global Enterprise business, taking it to new heights by leveraging world-class partnerships with companies like Microsoft and IBM, as well as leading technology innovations that are gaining rapid traction in the market. Hackney has full accountability for driving Nortel's Enterprise growth and market leadership throughout the world as the company increases its investments and accelerates its pace of execution.

In his previous role as senior vice president, Global Operations and Quality, Hackney was the key driver behind many of Nortel's recent operational and supply chain improvements, leading numerous initiatives across the company, including almost 200 Lean Six Sigma projects designed to improve customer and business results. His strong strategic, operational and leadership assets include a world-class leadership background in general management, supply chain, audit, operations, product management, and Six Sigma expertise.
Hackney's current role builds on more than 14 years of global leadership experience at GE working for a wide variety of the GE family of businesses, including GE Lighting (North America and Europe), GE Aircraft Engines, GE Power Systems, GE Investments, and GE Mergers and Acquisitions.
More recently, Hackney was division general manager for GE Consumer and Industrial, based in Barcelona, Spain. In this position, he was responsible for the growth and profitability of the US$1 billion Global IEC Electrical Components and Systems Division, with 12 plants and more than 7,000 employees across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Hackney has a B.S. business administration degree from the University of North Carolina and is based in Nortel's offices in Raleigh, North Carolina.
