Joel Schechter is a principal in Cummings & Lockwood�s Commercial Group and divides his time between the firm's Naples and Stamford offices. He is a member of the Firm�s Board of Directors. In addition to a general corporate practice, Joel represents lenders and borrowers in all types of commercial financings, mortgage loan transactions and complex private banking credit arrangements. He also advises financial institutions and corporations on compliance with state and federal regulatory matters, including consumer protection laws concerning mortgage lending, retail installment sales, home solicitation sales, motor vehicle leases, small loans and general lending activities. Joel received his J.D. in 1987 from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School, where he was a senior editor of the Buffalo Law Review. He graduated from Cornell University in 1984 with an A.B. in psychology. Joel is a past president of the Cornell Club of Fairfield County and is currently the president of the Cornell Club of Southwest Florida. Joel was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1987 and the Florida Bar in 1996. He is a member of the American, Florida, Connecticut and Collier County Bar Associations. |
