Biography
John A. Rubenacker, CPA, CVA, provides services to a diverse array of clientele, with a concentration in commercial and individual-income taxation. He has participated in numerous accounting and review engagements. He has extensive education in and experience with numerous accounting systems and various areas of tax planning, research, and preparation. His clientele include numerous small and medium-sized businesses in a variety of industries.
Mr. Rubenacker's strength is with partnership taxation for service industry providers. He has extensive experience with the "assumed-liability" allocations of selling prices for minority partnership interests, "stepped-up basis," and "hot-asset" deduction aspects specific to the purchase and sale of partnership interests in legal, engineering and other industries. He regularly consults with clients who wish to structure partnerships or LLCs electing partnership taxation. In addition, Mr. Rubenacker has experience with S-Corporations and their related tax consequences.
Mr. Rubenacker graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a degree in accounting in 1988. After graduation, he began his career with Arthur Andersen and Company in St. Louis; during his tenure at Arthur Andersen, Mr. Rubenacker served as a staff accountant in their tax department, acquiring experience in tax research and tax preparation.
Mr. Rubenacker joined Kemper CPA Group LLP in the Mt. Vernon, Illinois office in 1991. He transferred to the Firm's Evansville, Indiana office in 1993; in that same year, he became a principal in the Firm, and was admitted to partnership with the Firm at its annual membership meeting, effective May 1, 1995.
