John A. Simon is a litigation partner in the industry-wide Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He has experience as a trial lawyer, having tried cases before juries in both state and federal courts. He also has substantial appellate experience, including arguments in the Illinois and the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as federal and state courts of appeal around the country.
Together with other lawyers from the firm, he acts as national coordinating counsel and trial counsel for a latex glove manufacturer in latex glove product liability litigation. After several years of litigation involving hundreds of cases, no judge nor jury has found this client liable in any amount for plaintiffs' injuries.
In addition, real estate litigation, including eminent domain, makes up a significant part of his practice.
Before entering private practice at the firm, John served for seven years in the Illinois Attorney General�s Office in the general litigation division, where he represented various state agencies and officers in the state and federal courts, as well as before administrative commissions.
Drawing on this experience, he has handled a variety of state regulatory matters, administrative review actions and other public law litigation at the firm, including the defense of the Chicago Park District and the City over the fate of Meigs Field in 1996-1997 and 2003.
John is married to Tanya Solov and has four children. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese. |
