John A. Young, Mr. Young has been one of our directors since our inception and held the role of Chairman from 1995 to 2005. Mr. Young now holds the position of Lead Outside Director. Mr. Young was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard Company from 1978 until his retirement in 1992. He serves as a director of two other public life science companies, GlaxoSmithKline plc and Affymetrix, Inc., and also serves as a director of ChevronTexaco Corporation, Agere Systems and Lucent Technologies Inc. He received a B.S.E.E. from Oregon State University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. |
