John C. Melaniphy, 45, is vice president of development and strategic planning for Mid-America Development Partners, LLC (Mid-Am). He is responsible for market feasibility studies, site selection and development.Before joining Mid-Am in November 2005, Melaniphy spent more than 20 years at Melaniphy & Associates, Inc. a Chicago-based, international real estate consulting and market research firm specializing in retail. For the last seven years, he served as executive vice president, where he coordinated staff in every aspect of real estate market research. Clients included JC Penney, Whole Foods, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Wickes Furniture, Westfield Corporation, Simon Property Group, The RREEF Funds, and Steiner + Associates, Inc., among others. Notable projects were Mall of America, Navy Pier, Bayshore Mall, Southridge Mall, Northstar Mall, and Easton Town Center. Melaniphy earned his undergraduate degree in real estate and human resource management from DePaul University in Chicago. he is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the past author of the annual Melaniphy & Associates retail trends report. He also authored numerous trade journal articles and has been a feature speaker covering real estate, mixed-use development, store development strategies, restaurant and fast food market analysis and site selection, shopping center opportunities and long range development planning. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife Sarah and daughter Margaret. |
