John's overall responsibility is to manage Scotia Capital with fellow Co-CEO Steve McDonald. In addition, John has day-to-day responsibility for derivatives, fixed income, foreign exchange, precious metals and institutional equity trading sales and research.
John joined Scotiabank in 1997, after heading Citibank Canada's Canadian trading operations for two years. Previously, he worked at TD Bank for 11 years, beginning as a foreign exchange trader and ending as Vice-Chairman, TD Securities.
John received a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto in 1980, a Barrister-at-Law degree from the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1982, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
John and his wife, Susan, have four children. |
