John C. Waddell is Vice Chairman of the Board. He, together with B. Duke Glenn, Jr. and Roger E. Green, acquired a controlling interest in Arrow Electronics in 1969. He served as Director and Executive Vice President of the company throughout the 1970s, and, in 1980, succeeded B. Duke Glenn, Jr. as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He served as CEO until 1986 and as Chairman until 1994.
Waddell is a graduate of Yale University, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1959. After college, he served a three-year tour of duty as an intelligence officer with the Office of Naval Intelligence. He completed graduate studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, receiving an M.B.A. in 1965.
Waddell has been associated with a number of arts-related organizations in New York City. He is former President of the Foundation for the Joffrey Ballet and Co-chairman of the Joffrey's Board of Directors; Founder and Director of the 55th Street Dance Theater Foundation; the National Corporate Fund for Dance; and the American Arts Alliance.
He is currently a member of the Committee on Architecture and Design of The Museum of Modern Art and the Committee on Photographs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. |
