John's practice centers on oil and gas property operational issues including title examination. John's experience includes oil and gas work in South Texas, East Texas, and the Gulf Coast. John is admitted to practice in all Courts in the State of Texas, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. In addition to being a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, John is also a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen. John received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. While in law school, John worked as a legislative aide with the Texas Legislature. After law school, John spent six years as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney's Office where he sat first chair in over fifty jury trials, including in the Special Crimes Bureau where he prosecuted white-collar crimes including securities fraud and major thefts. After leaving the District Attorney's Office and prior to joining Gordon Arata, John worked in private practice and as an independent landman. |
