John Turner joined Conseco's board of directors in September 2003. He is the chairman of Hillcrest Capital Partners a private equity investment firm launched in 2002 by Turner and his son Jeff. Turner serves as a director of Hormel Foods Corporation and ING Funds.
During his extensive career in the insurance industry Turner served as chairman and CEO of Reliastar Financial Corp. from 1991 until it was acquired by ING in 2000. After the merger he became vice chairman and a member of the executive committee for ING Americas until his retirement in 2002. In 1996 Turner was named the "Insurance Industry CEO of the Year" by The Wall Street Transcript.
Turner has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Amherst College. In addition he did graduate work at the University of Minnesota and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. |
