Archbishop Vlazny is a native of Chicago. He was ordained a priest in 1961, and ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago in 1983. He served as Bishop of Winona, Minnesota from 1987 to 1997. He was appointed Archbishop of Portland on October 28, 1997, and presided at his first meeting as Chairman of OCP's Board of Directors in February 1998. He currently serves on various USCCB committees, including the Committee on Catechesis and the Subcommittee on Liturgical Music. |
