John H. Ashby is a partner with a practice concentrated in the areas of taxation and wealth management. Over his career Mr. Ashby has successfully dealt with complex federal and state tax matters for individuals and business entities, estates and trusts. Mr. Ashby counsels families with connections to diverse parts of the globe and helps them with the intricacies of navigating U.S. tax laws applicable to non-residents, including tax laws of concern to those contemplating immigration to this country. Mr. Ashby is a founding member of The Tax Luncheon Group, an informal group of Boston area tax practitioners who have been meeting monthly for thirty years to exchange ideas and deal with developments in the arena of taxation. He is admitted to practice not only in Massachusetts but also in the United States Tax Court and the Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Ashby�s avocation is cycling, which he pursues with the same zeal he tackles the practice of law. He commutes by bicycle daily from Chestnut Hill to downtown Boston. He has also crossed the country three times west to east and three times south to north, taking on some of the most challenging routes. Mr. Ashby is a graduate of Harvard College, cum laude, and Harvard Law School. Following completion of his undergraduate studies, he studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, as Harvard�s Fiske scholar. Immediately following graduation from law school, he served as a law clerk to Justice R. Ammi Cutter of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He is a member of the Boston, Massachusetts and American Bar Associations and the American Law Institute. |
