John H. Gutfreund is President of Gutfreund & Co., Inc. and a Senior Advisor to C.E. Unterberg, Towbin.
Mr. Gutfreund has had an impressive and influential career on Wall Street. Prior to forming his own firm, he was with Salomon Brothers for nearly 40 years, the last 10 of which he was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive.
Mr. Gutfreund is a Director of Compudyne Corporation, Evercel, Inc., LCA-Vision, Inc., and a Director and Chairman of the Board of Nutrition 21, Inc. (formerly AMBI, Inc.). He is also a Director of The Universal Bond Fund and of Montefiore Medical Center. In addition, he is a member of The Brookings Institution and its Council Advisory Committee in New York, the Council on Foreign Relations, and lifetime member of the Board of Trustees of The New York Public Library. He is an Honorary Trustee of Oberlin (Ohio) College and Chairman Emeritus and member of the Board of Trustees of the Aperture Foundation.
He is also a past Vice Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange (1985-87); past member, Board of Directors, Securities Industry Association; past Chairman of the Downtown Lower Manhattan Association; past President and member of the Board of Governors of the Bond Club of New York; and a past member of The Trilateral Commission. A graduate of Oberlin College, Mr. Gutfreund served in the U.S Army in Korea. |
