John began his career in the Human Resources field. Working for large corporations, John enjoyed managerial challenges with FoxMeyer Corporation (now McKesson) a leading pharmaceutical distributor, AccuRay (now ASEA Brown Boveri) and Armco Inc. (now AK Steel), process automation and steel production firms respectively. During this period, he became skilled in the areas of employment, executive search, labor relations, succession planning, compensation, organization development and performance management. In addition, he lectured on such subjects as Professional Outplacement, Assessment Center Design, Conflict Resolution, Progressive Disciplinary Process and was a member of the American Iron and Steel Institute speakers bureau.
Prior to co-founding MARKT & MARKWORTH, LTD., John was affiliated with an executive search firm where he grew sales 50% each year during his eight-year tenure. His diverse experience enabled him to work in multiple Practice Areas and he also was successful in building a niche practice in Supply Chain Management.
John grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, majoring in Personnel and Labor Relations Management with a minor in Economics. He is a lifetime member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. John is married to Pamela Markt. She is an IT Manager working for an industry leading Insurance Company. They have two grown children. He is an active volunteer for various civic and non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity.
