BACKGROUND: John was born on October 17, 1935, in Albany, New York. He graduated as Salutatorian from Union College with a B.A. degree in 1957. In 1960, he graduated from Harvard Law School. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate Generals Corp from 1961 to 1964, receiving the Army Commendation Medal for his service as a court martial prosecutor. He joined the Tampa law firm of Shackleford, Farrior, Stallings & Evans in 1964. John is a member of the Florida and New York Bars. EXPERIENCE: John is an experienced banking, securities and bond lawyer. He has handled numerous IPO's and served as bond counsel for many municipal bond issues. He currently serves as bond counsel for the City of Tampa. He has organized and performed legal services for several federal and state banks and currently serves as general counsel for Southern Exchange Bank, with 16 branches in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. John is also general counsel of the Tampa Sports Authority, a public agency that owns Raymond James Stadium and the Ice Palace in Tampa and issued the bonds to finance these facilities.
