John J. Campbell is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Campbell Alliance, the leading specialized management consulting firm serving the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. He also serves as the chairman of the Pharmaceutical Institute, a provider of educational and information resources to companies in the pharmaceutical and biotech sector. Before founding Campbell Alliance in 1997, John Campbell was vice president of a subsidiary of the "top five" pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (then Glaxo Wellcome).
Today, Campbell Alliance has a team of more than 170 highly experienced professionals and a client base that includes most of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Its eight offices are located in major life sciences hubs throughout the US. The success of Campbell Alliance has been widely recognized, earning it a place on the "Inc. 500" as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the US.
In 2006, John Campbell was named an Ernst &Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and one of the "100 Most Inspirational People in the Pharmaceutical Industry" by PharmaVoice magazine. He is also the co-author of a best-selling book on the pharmaceutical industry, Understanding Pharma.
