John has practiced with the intellectual property group at Faegre & Benson since 1986 and has been a partner since 1990. Prior to that he was an electrical research engineer, and later, the technology transfer analyst for Eaton Corporation from 1968 to 1981. From 1981 to 1986 he was division patent and licensing counsel for eight divisions of Litton Industries, Inc. While at Litton, he was responsible for obtaining and enforcing intellectual property protection for microwave ovens and accessories, printed circuit boards, x-ray tubes and equipment, transformers and UPS systems, solder and related chemicals, bare and coated copper wire products, and motors and electronic control systems.
At Faegre & Benson, John's practice includes patent and trademark prosecution and counseling, license negotiation, infringement investigation analysis, and design protection and counseling. He has had primary or significant responsibility for the intellectual property aspects of a number of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
