The founder and Medical Director of the Shepherd Eye Center, Dr. John Shepherd, received his medical degree from the University of Illinois and his residency training in Chicago. Following discharge from the Army, he began practice in Las Vegas in 1968. He is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Recognized as one of the early leaders in small incision cataract surgery, he has lectured throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia, authored numerous scientific papers, and has been a contributing author to eleven medical books.
Dr. Shepherd was listed in several issues of The Best Doctors in America, received an Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (1995), and was a recipient of the 2005 Jan Worst Medal from the International Intra-Ocular Implant Club. He is a Clinical Professor at the University of Utah.
Dr. Shepherd retired from practice in 2006. His commitment to excellence in eyecare continues at Shepherd Eye Center. |
