John Huff was elected to Suncor Energy�s Board of Directors in January 1998 and is Chair of the Board Policy, Strategy Review and Governance committee and is a member of the Human Resources and Compensation committee.
Mr. Huff is Chairman of the Board of Oceaneering International Inc., which is based in Houston, Texas. Oceaneering International is one of the world�s largest contractors, providing services to customers operating in harsh environments around the world. Prior to joining Oceaneering in 1986, Mr. Huff served as Chairman and President of Western Oceanic, Inc., a worldwide offshore contract drilling company.
Mr. Huff is actively involved as director of BJ Services Company, Rowan Drilling Company, St. Luke�s Episcopal Hospital and Sea Space Symposium. He is a member of Heinz Committee on Sustainable Oceans and the National Petroleum Council Department of Energy USA. He is a past director of the National Ocean Industries Association, the International Association of Drilling Contractors and the Law of the Sea Institute. He previously served on the U.S. Department of Transportation�s National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee and the U.S. Coast Guard Foundation.
Mr. Huff has been a recipient of many awards recognizing superior leadership and business achievement. His most recent honors are the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Energy Services Finalists, the 1998 ASME Rhodes Petroleum Industry Leadership Award, 1995 Financial World�s Chief Executive Officer of the Year, 1994 Professional Review�s Top 100 Texas Public Company CEOs, and 1994 ASME/University of Houston�s Career Achievement Award.
Mr. Huff attended Rice University and received a bachelor of civil engineering degree from Georgia Tech University in 1968. He attended Harvard Business School�s Program for Management Development in 1977.
Mr. Huff is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas and a member of the Explorer�s Club. He is married, has two children and two grandchildren.
