John S. Christie joined Worthington Industries in June of 1999 as president and chief operating officer. In January of 2004 he was named president and chief financial officer.
Christie, prior to joining Worthingotn, was president of JMAC, Inc., a multi-million dollar, diversified investment company owned by John H. McConnell, founder and chairman Emeritus of Worthington Industries.
Christie also served as senior vice president, corporate development for Battelle from 1988 through 1995, directing global business development, marketing, strategy development, intellectual property commercialization, communications and community relations. Christie also served as president of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce from 1983 to 1988. Prior to joining the Chamber, he was senior vice president of commercial lending for a national banking institution and a member of its executive committee.
Christie is active in many community organizations and currently serves as chairman of the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority. He is a member of the board of directors for Worthington Industries and Citizens National Bank. He also serves on the advisory board of Battelle Memorial Institute Pension Plan, The Fishel Company and The Crane Group. He currently serves as a member of the board of trustees of Miami University.
He is former chairman of the board of directors of Information Dimensions, Inc. and Geosafe Corp. and former vice chairman of the Ohio Public Works Commission. Christie is also a former board member of Franklin University, Neoprobe Corporation, and the advisory board of Bank One, NA.
Christie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Miami University of Ohio and his MBA from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
