John S. Minasi, MD, FACS Chief Scientific Officer Prior to relocating to Florida as CSO and Board Member for Zassi, John served as an Associate Professor of Surgery on the faculty at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. As a full-time academic surgeon, John was Program Director of the General Surgery Residency, Director of the Surgical Nutrition Support Team and had a busy clinical practice specializing in treating patients with gastrointestinal disorders. The majority of those patients had complex disorders, which required special creativity to successfully manage. In January 2001, in order to amplify his reach into patient care, John put his clinical practice aside to devote his energies and creativity to the medical device industry. John is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Certified Nutrition Support Physician, an active Committee Member in the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, a member of the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, a member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, a member of the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, a member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the former President of the Virginia Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. He serves on the editorial board of the journal Current Surgery and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the University of Virginia Medical Alumni Association. John received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a MD from the University of Virginia. He did his residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Surgical Research at the University of Virginia. Also, he did a fellowship in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery and Endoscopy at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. |
