John Bluford has served as the President/CEO of Truman Medical Centers since March 1999. Bluford's responsibility at TMC is to provide leadership in changing the institutional culture to ensure positive clinical outcomes and excellent customer service while creating a diversified payor portfolio.
Prior to assuming the TMC position, Bluford was CEO of Hennepin County Medical Center, a comprehensive academic medical center in Minneapolis, MN beginning in 1993.
Bluford currently serves as the Chair of the Missouri Hospital Association; Chair-Elect of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; Trustee of the American Hospital Association; Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Public Hospitals and is a member of the Board of Directors of DeCare International and for the H&R Block Bank.
Bluford has a BA from Fisk University ('71), an MBA from Northwestern University ('75) and studied at Harvard University's Executive Program in Health Policy in 1981. |
