John was named vice president and general manager of the Structural and Rail Division at Columbia City, Indiana, in 2007.
John joined SDI in 1994 as the company's first sales manager and has served as vice president of marketing and sales since 1997. He earned a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from Lafayette College and has participated in executive-development programs at the Wharton School of Economics, Northwestern University, and Harvard Business School.
John has more than 30 years� experience in the steel industry. During a 12-year stint at Bethlehem Steel, he progressed from metallurgical service engineer to manufacturing manager to manager of marketing. John moved to Inland Steel in Chicago in 1985 and served as manager of both special products and cold-rolled products, before becoming sales manager for the Ford Motor Company account in 1988. At Steel Dynamics, John has overseen sales growth from start-up in 1996 to $3.2 billion in 2006.
In July 2003, John was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to serve on a government advisory committee on ferrous ores and metals for trade-policy matters, representing Steel Dynamics and the American steel industry. He has been an active participant in Washington on trade-policy discussions. |
