Mr. Rees is experienced in all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent, copyright and trademark prosecution, and intellectual property litigation.
Prior to joining Dykema, Mr. Rees was employed as an engineer for various automotive firms and suppliers, designing electronic fuel injection systems and microprocessor hardware and software; and for Michigan Bell Telephone (Ameritech), designing digital and analog data transmission links.

Counsels clients in clearing, acquiring, securing registrations on, and enforcing trademarks
Assisting clients on proper trademark use, as well as facilitating foreign trademark protection where applicable
Counsels clients on the emerging law of the Internet as it pertains to trademarks
Preparation and procurement of patents in a broad range of technologies, including semiconductor devices, automotive and computer-implemented inventions, such as software
Preparing intellectual property licensing and other agreements
Patent prosecution experience includes microprocessor design and architecture (such as massively parallel processing), software, fuel injection systems, optical measuring/illumination systems, motor control and application (DC and switched reluctance motors), personal computer architecture (DMA, graphics display hardware), automotive electronics, semiconductor design (including ESD circuitry) and telecommunications systems. |
