John W. Wallen III, Ph.D., J.D. Vice President, Intellectual Property Dr. Wallen was formerly a partner in the Technology/Intellectual Property, Life Sciences, and Patent Litigation groups of the law firm Preston Gates & Ellis LLP, in San Diego. At Preston his practice concentrated on small to mid-sized biotech/pharmaceutical companies, providing counseling on all aspects of intellectual property matters, including patent preparation and prosecution, patent portfolio management, negotiating and writing agreements, patent litigation, and freedom to operate opinions. Dr. Wallen was previously a patent attorney in the Johnson & Johnson Law Department, focusing on biotechnology and drug discovery. Before joining J&J, Dr. Wallen was first a Scientist in the Cancer Research Department of Merck & Co., Inc. and later became a Patent Attorney in Merck's Patent Department. |
