John Alpine joined Spatial as Vice President of Research and Development. John heads the ACIS and InterOp development teams and the Integration and Quality Assurance organizations. His responsibilities include oversight of the development offices in Cambridge, Mumbai, and Pune as well as the evaluation and implementation of new product and technology initiatives. John most recently served as the CTO of Proficiency, a provider of high value CAD interoperability products and services. His efforts there included developing a strategic product road map for the company, implementing new development processes and aligning the development activities with business objectives. Prior to Proficiency, John was the CTO and Director of Development at CoCreate, a CAD company specializing in design collaboration and internet based products and an ACIS licensee. John directed the product strategy and development organizations for CoCreate and was responsible for restructuring their development, product marketing and QA and documentation organizations. John also has had experience as the R&D section manager with the EEsof division of Hewlett-Packard and was a member of the technical staff in the LSI Design Department of Hughes Aircraft, Missile Systems Group. John graduated from the University of California Executive Management Development Program and has a Masters Degree in Computer Science from California State University with a thesis in Solid Modeling Edge Based Data Structures; an M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago and B.S. Anthropology Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona.
