John is Chief Operating Officer for Middle East and Africa division of InterContinental Hotels Group, where he runs a complete business unit responsible for all company managed, owned and leased properties as well as franchised hotels in the division. He is also responsible for sales, tactical marketing and development within the geographical area.
John was formerly Chief Operating Officer UK and Ireland. Prior to that he was IHG's Area President of Operations for Europe. He has held a number of senior positions within the hotel industry including Regional Managing Director, Le Meridien UK and Eire (Forte Hotels), and also managing director UK, Hilton International.
John has a depth of expertise in the hospitality business as well as considerable experience in both retail and FMCG branded businesses. Previously, he was Chief Executive Salisburys Ltd and has also held a number of Managing Director positions, across a range of companies, including Initial UK Ltd (BET), the Dominic Group (Grand Met), and Thorn EMI. Bamsey has a BA Hons in geography and has also attended the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD. |
