John Burr is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Orange County office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, John focuses his practice on patent prosecution in the areas of biotechnology and chemical applications. He has extensive experience drafting and preparing appeals, invalidity and infringement opinions and patent applications.
Prior to joining McDermott, John was a post-doctorate researcher for the California Institute of Technology. John earned his J.D. from Whittier Law School in 2006. He received his Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of California at Irvine in 1998 and his B.S. in biology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992.
John is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
