As the Chief Scientist, John Franklin is responsible for researching new technologies and new ways to apply existing technologies to help TRS customers achieve their mission goals. John started working on manpower and staffing database projects for the Space and Naval Warfare Command over 20 years ago on HP minicomputers and has been working with the federal sector ever since. John worked with network and hierarchical database management systems and has been working with relational database systems for the last 15 years. John is also a certified Solaris administrator. This experience combined with his RDBMS experience allows John to bring an integrated and holistic view to problems affecting modern complex database systems. John designed the first web enabled Oracle Forms based application using SSL and Oracles Single Sign-On server that tracked the users identity from client browser through the middle tier server to the database backend. John worked closely with a number of Oracle Product Managers to resolve issues as quickly as possible. Johns feedback to the PMs was then used to improve the next version of the products. For the past several years, Johns has been designing, installing, integrating and maintaining enterprise level Oracle Grid database systems running on Solaris Enterprise servers for the federal government. These systems are designed to provide 99.999% uptime for mission critical systems accessed by thousands of users. John received his B.S in Computer Science from Youngstown State University with a double minor in Math and Physics in 1985. John is a Certified Solaris Administrator and a Certified Solaris Network Administrator.John has also co-authored an article for Oracle Technology Network on using PL/SQL to integrate SSL, X.509 LDAP, and Single Sign-On technology. |
