John Fullerton is Chairman and CEO of Alerian Capital Management, an investment firm that invests in energy Master Limited Partnerships with a macro hedge overlay. Mr. Fullerton is an active private investor and a former Managing Director of JPMorgan where he worked for over 18 years. John was one of the youngest Managing Directors in the history of the firm.
Beginning in 1997, John was a partner in Morgan Capital, the firm's private equity arm, and was subsequently the Chief Investment Officer of LabMorgan responsible for the firm's "eFinance" private investment activity with $300 million of committed capital.
Prior to his private equity experience, John held numerous managerial responsibilities in the firm's industry leading capital markets businesses including: Head of Swaps and Debt Capital Markets for the Americas, Head of Swaps for Asia, Head of Global Equity Derivatives and Equity Trading, and, Head of Global Commodities and Commodity Derivatives. In these capacities, John was both a successful business builder and business fixer, with complete P&L responsibility in excess of $200 million. John began his career at JPMorgan as a banker in the oil and gas department, with a focus on international project finance.
John has been a director of numerous private and public companies including RiskMetrics Group, and was a member of the Long Term Capital Oversight Committee that oversaw the $3.6 Billion rescue of the fund and won the "Risk Manager of the Year" award. He is currently Chairman of Reconda International Corporation, a Director of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, The National Dance Institute, and on the Advisory Board of Seavest, Inc.
John received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Michigan in 1982, with a concentration in economics and international relations, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Executive Management Program at the Stern School of New York University in 1986. During his career with JPMorgan, John lived in NY, London, and Tokyo. He now resides in Rye, NY with his wife Susan and three children. |
