John Hughes has over 20 years experience in the telecommunications market space while serving in Research and Development, Product Management, Marketing, and Business Management positions. John has participated in concept-to-market product developments for Class IV DCO switches, Digital Loop Carrier Systems, Digital Cross-Connects, PDH and SONET/SDH lightwave systems, and optically amplified long-haul WDM transport systems. In the mid-80�s, as a Director, John established the North American engineering group for Bosch Telecom and helped grow the organization to enable 3 successful new transport products for US carriers including MCI, Sprint, United Telecom and WorldCom/Wiltel. In 1996, John established the North American Optical Transport business unit for Siemens and, as Business Manager, oversaw US customer account development as well as product development in Boca Raton, Munich, and Taipei to successfully introduce the TransXpress Infinity in �98 with 3-year revenues exceeding $200 Million. In 1999, John joined Qtera as VP and CTO to lead product development activities on the first terrestrial ULH DWDM transport system. Qtera was acquired by Nortel Networks in 2000, and the ULH product was deployed in 2001 with first year revenues in the range of $200 Million. John is now a consultant with Pinon Horizon Consulting. |
