John Kvitvang was appointed Vice President Downstream Manufacturing, Supply/Distribution, at Shell Global Solutions in 2003. His leadership responsibilities include service management and technical support to Shell and Shell Joint Venture assets worldwide, as well as support to various major third-party accounts with manufacturing. He is also a member of the Global Manufacturing Leadership Team within Shell Downstream.
John joined Shell in 1979 and his career in the manufacturing technology, operations and maintenance sectors of the oil industry has taken him all over Europe and to Kenya.
After graduating with an M.Sc in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Trondheim in 1975, John joined Norske Hydro AS in Oslo as a researcher. After two years as a process technologist at the Mongstad Refinery, John joined Shell as a development engineer for Shell International Petroleum, based in The Hague.
Since then, he has held various positions with Shell - he was Technology Manager at Kenya Petroleum Refineries Ltd., in Mombasa, and in the mid nineties, was Service Manager for Group Refineries in Africa, South America and the Caribbean.
John has held Refinery Manager and Site Manager positions at the Pernis Refinery in Rotterdam, and the Sola Refinery in Norway. Since 2004, he has also been Chairman of the Board for Shell Norway - Norske Shell A.S. |
